Training

To provide a great service, you have to have the right people. They become the right people through training, motivation, accountability, and a clear standard of success. Every day at every location, housekeeping managers and supervisors are training staff. To promote consistency at every location, MasterCorp has made a significant investment in training for all housekeeping operations managers.

MasterCorp University

To train the trainers, MasterCorp University was founded by CEO Alan Grindstaff. The curriculum includes a week of instruction at the MasterCorp University training facility (where students are housed on campus) and 52 online modules. Every Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, and middle management person is expected to complete all the courses. Facilitated by Employee Development and Training instructors, many classes are actually taught by MasterCorp leaders.

Through an American Heart Association course taught by ED&T instructors, first-aid training and CPR certification are required of every Executive Housekeeper and every Area and District Manager.

In addition to the basics in cleanliness and housekeeping management, either in class or online, students are trained in every element of resort housekeeping management. In-service training includes safety awareness, which reduces workman’s compensation rates, and chemical safety, which allows staff to work in an OSHA compliant environment, as well as inspection and customer service clinics.

Customer Service Evaluation (CSE)

To be sure the training has translated from the classroom to the workplace, ED&T trainers inspect every resort housekeeping location every quarter. The unannounced inspection is a thorough checklist that covers everything from detailed cleanliness tests to OSHA compliance. Although every staff wants a perfect score, each point less than 100 is an opportunity to train on site.

Master Executive Housekeeper Certification

After attending MasterCorp University classes for 4 years, satisfactorily completing all online courses, and consistently receiving high scores on CSE inspections, housekeeping managers may earn an internal certification as Master Executive Housekeeper.

MasterCorp models cleanliness in everything. Our employees are trained to always have a professional appearance: clean, pressed, belted in. All on-site employees wear uniforms.
