Upholstery Cleaning

Housekeeping

Resort furnishings are upholstered with a variety of fabrics and padding that respond differently to the cleaning process. Leather requires its own special treatment. Some silks can only be vacuumed. Some fabrics must be dry cleaned.
The first step in cleaning fabric upholstery begins before housekeeping arrives. Fabric protection products, such as Scotchgard™ or Teflon™, provide protection against solid and tough stains by deeply penetrating the molecule of the fiber without changing the color or texture of the fabric. Although no product will prevent soiling, protection products can inhibit permanent stains caused by grease, wine, water, and even pet “deposits” and enable furnishings to be cleaned more easily. On protected fabric, spills usually bead up for easy removal and stains do not set. These products can also reduce static electricity, which can attract soiling.
The durability and life of all fabrics can be increased by protection products, which prevent friction-causing dirt from penetrating the molecule of the fibers and accelerating wear. In summary, to end up with clean, durable upholstery, start with fabric protection.
