Housekeeping Technology
Using an electronic scanning devise for the daily check in/out procedure can have many advantages, especially when tied to an electronic time clock application. A simple finger scan automatically identifies the employee, which expedites the process and gets the housekeeping staff into rooms more quickly.
The process confirms the identity of the employee, which enhances safety for guests and personnel and assures the right people are paid for the right time.
Since it is a green, paperless process that does not require oversight, dispatchers are freed up to focus on assignments and guest requests, and housekeeping managers can get out onto the site earlier.
For its clear benefits, the downside is the complexity of integration, as shared by MasterCorp CIO Jonathan Loveday: “There are a lot of biometric solutions out there but integrating one with our environment was not easily done. Most will store the employee list locally; we had to have one that would store in our central database over the internet. This was done by converting the image to a hexadecimal code and sending that code through the system as opposed to the image itself.
“We have tied it into our time clock application and our KTD (kiosk training display). The combination of these 3 pieces makes for a very beneficial solution.”
