The Efficiency of Preparedness

Clean rooms, on time and on budget is the turn-day mantra for every Executive Housekeeper. Sustained efficiency is not accidental; behind every efficient housekeeping operation is strong leadership and a motivated staff, well trained in a proven process. The efficiency of a ready staff increases even more if you give them a head start before the day even begins.
“Years ago, starting a turn day was like spinning plates on sticks,” recalls a long-time housekeeping manager for MasterCorp. “Now, when my staff arrives, room assignments are already prepared. Our software interfaces with resort software to create room assignments matched to our staffing and service model.
“We also have an application that forecasts staffing needs, which means an ‘unexpectedly’ heavy turn day is not likely to catch us unprepared.
“The ‘check in’ process is smooth with bioscan recognition for staff and electronic onboarding for new hires. I’ve noticed that having everything prepared and well organized gives confidence and energy to the entire staff.”
Often, the impact of routine issues that rise up in day to day operations can be buffered with a little preparedness. MasterCorp managers have a pre-cleaning process for prepping units, which facilitates the work of the housekeepers and allows maintenance, soiled carpet, and linen requests to be turned in early and fulfilled ahead of guest arrival. Being prepared, even with the smallest of things, can often be the difference in delivering a room on time.
