The Opening Edge In Clean Transitions
Summer 2007
Opening
When considering a housekeeping partnership, the provider’s ability and experience in handling transition is a critical competency, which can establish the foundation for success. Your provider should be able to outline a clear and concise plan for a smooth transition of housekeeping operations.
Although the elements of a thorough start-up plan can list into the hundreds, the basic plan of execution consists of six phases.
| Phase I | Hand over |
| Phase II | Communication |
| Phase III | Recruitment |
| Phase IV | Training |
| Phase V | Physical Setup |
| Phase VI | Initiation |
While the phases are consistent with all openings, the execution must be retrofitted to the logistics and personality of the resort. Although an experienced vendor can open operations in 2 weeks, this rushed approach narrows the margin for success. Allow 6 to 12 weeks to assure as smooth a transition as possible.
For the leader in the resort housekeeping industry, the transition of housekeeping operations must be a core competency. At MasterCorp, our well trained Opening Managers, Facilitator, and Opening Team draw from over 25 years of experience opening and maintaining many of the finest resorts in the world.
