Safety

If statistics hold true, every 15 seconds a person is injured on our roadways.  On average, a single accident costs an employer $15,900 and a fatality, $120,000.

Given the nature of the resort timeshare industry, many of our resort employees operate company-owned vehicles in the performance of their jobs.  We can reduce expenses, prevent injuries and ultimately save lives by training and motivating our employees to practice common sense and basic safe driving techniques.

The Department of Public Safety has identified the
5 leading causes of motor vehicle collisions as:

  1. Driving at unsafe speeds
  2. Failure to yield the right-of-way
  3. Driving under the influence of alcohol
  4. Disregarding stop signals
  5. Following too closely

Employers should regularly caution their employees to be mindful of these risks, as well as hazards caused by poor weather, road conditions, and visibility.  Below are a few quick defensive driving safety tips to consider:

  1. Ask yourself, “Is this trip necessary?”
  2. Whenever possible, back company vehicles into parking spaces.
  3. Use a hands-free device while operating a cellular phone.
  4. Always wear a seatbelt!

This year MasterCorp added a Defensive Driving Module to our web-based training program, which is available to all drivers of company vehicles.  This training has been designed to save lives, reduce injuries, make safer drivers, and reduce and avoid minor accidents.
